How to become a Government Contractor – Cash in on Stimulus Contracts

Did you know that selling to the US government is a highly lucrative business – that is assuming you know how to go about it. The US government is the biggest spender in the world, surpassing even the largest corporation in spending. In fact government spending has more than tripled with the stimulus packages that were created to bail out the economy.

One of the ways you can succeed in selling to the government is by focusing on the areas targeted by these stimulus packages. In a nutshell, the government stimulus packages are focusing on the following areas:

The next thing you need to do is to understand how the US government makes its purchases. To succeed in selling to the government, you must understand the rules and procedures. • Fedbizopps.gov - this one-stop virtual marketplace allows potential government contractors to identify opportunities posted by the entire Federal contracting community.
• Central Contractor Registration (CCR) – this is a government-maintained database of companies that want to do business with the government is one of the main methods used by officials to identify qualified small business contractors. Register your business with the CCR to stand a chance of being shortlisted.
• GSA (General Services Administration) - awards contracts to firms selling commercial items priced reasonably.
